RVYC Fund

For over one hundred and twenty eight years, the Royal Victoria Yacht club has been developing world-class sailors, along with a well-earned reputation as an enthusiastic and welcoming club, situated in one of the worlds best boating locations. Our strength has always been the people who have come together around their shared love of boating. We invite you to be part of this legacy through our new RVYC Fund, created to support excellence in developing the many skills that contribute to enjoying time on the water.

The RVYC Fund has been established in partnership with the Victoria Foundation and will help support a range of sailing, racing and recreational boating activities at our club while providing you with the benefit of a tax receipt, issued by the Victoria Foundation, for your donation. Your donations to the RVYC Fund can be directed to an endowment that supports long-term initiatives, or to specific projects:

- The first option involves building a long-term pool of capital, the annual returns from which will fund qualified activities in perpetuity as well as continuing to build the capital. Earnings from the endowed funds would be well suited to long term funding of ongoing initiatives, such as annual additions to our RVYC Racing Funds.  Donations to build capital in the RVYC Fund can be made by cheque to the Victoria Foundation with “RVYC Fund - capital” in the memo line, by credit card (phone 250-381-5532 and specify RVYC Fund - capital) or in the form of publicly traded securities (see https://victoriafoundation.bc.ca/make-a-donation/)

- The second option - Would you like to help your club, but don’t have time to volunteer or participate on a committee? Another way to help is to make a donation to the RVYC Fund at the Victoria Foundation, for which you will receive a charitable tax receipt.

Our club is presently aiming to raise $30,000 to purchase two RS Quest dinghies for recreational use by our members, through donations to the RVYC Fund at the Victoria Foundation and in partnership with the BC Amateur Sport Fund.  We’ve raised $ 4600 as of mid-November which is a good start, but we’ll need many more donations to achieve our fund-raising goal so that the dinghies can be purchased and ready for members’ use next spring.

RS Quest is a modern family dinghy that is stable and big enough for 2 - 4 adults and handles easily afloat and ashore. It’s perfect for parents (or grandparents) to take out their youngsters, or for junior members to take a few friends sailing. These dinghies will provide more opportunities for newer sailors, youth, families, members without boats and other members to get out on the water. They will be dedicated for recreational use by members, and can be reserved through the club’s online booking system.

Donations can be made by credit card at https://victoriafoundation.bc.ca/rvyc-fund/ , or by phoning 250-381-5532 and specifying RVYC Fund-RS Quest Project, or by cheque to the Victoria Foundation with “RVYC Fund – RS Quest Project” in the memo line. All donations will receive a charitable tax receipt from the Victoria Foundation.
